We will teach you about the history of magic, the skill of practicing, how to script your show, and how to present illusions in the best possible way. We teach close up magic, as well as escapism, mentalism, kid's shows, parlor magic, stage illusions, comedy magic, street magic, and much more!
Lessons are arranged to your schedule. You can set as many or as few lessons as you wish. Meet once a month or once a day; in the evenings or in the mornings; whenever it is convenient to you! We can adapt to any students schedule and learning needs. Lessons are minimally an hour, but can last longer if you wish. You will not just learn the "secret" of a trick. You will come to understand the presentation and how you can affect the audience's lives with entertainment.

Jack has been performing magic and comedy for over 50 years. He has performed in restaurants, nightclubs, at children's parties, and large, sold out venues all over Northern Ohio. Jack's acts include Professor Fineous Mildew-heimer and Amil Kaputska.
Jack has directed over 25 theatrical productions, performed at art fairs, and worked in and on several TV productions. Jack created and runs his own improv entertainment company that has been successful for the past 20 years.
Jack has a degree in Liberal Arts and a degree in Business Management. He also has a Technical Degree in radio, film and movie production. He has written comedy and other scripts for talent all over Northern Ohio.
Jack has been teaching magic and showmanship for the last 20 years. He has taught magic for individuals, both young and old, and was selected as the Master Teaching Artist for the Northeast Ohio's ArtWorks Apprentice Program.

Schedule your lessons early! Because this is a one-on-one teaching enviroment, you need to make a reservation a couple of weeks before we meet. Hours availble include weekdays from Noon until 4 PM, and weekends from Noon until 2 PM. There are a limited amount of evening hours availble, call for availble times. The lessons last at least one hour, but frequently go longer. You will only be charged for one hour, no matter how much longer the lesson goes over.
You will need a set of five 50 cent pieces. (Half dollars.) These coins are still in circulation and can be obtained from a near-by bank. You will also need at least one new deck of playing cards, but more decks are preferable. Finally, you will need the following book; "Mark Wilson's Complete Course in Magic," available in both hard and soft cover editions, from any brick and mortar or on-line bookstore.
Lessons are held in Mr. Palur's home office in Sheffield Lake, Ohio. (Address below.) It is there that he has a vast library of books and videos on the subject of performing and magic. He also has a large collection of both small and large magic props that students can use as they are learning.
Because of the "secret keeping nature of magic," students can not have guests along for the lesson, unless the student is a minor, or assistants for special needs adults. If a guest of a student wishes to pay for the session, they are welcome to attend as well. We can not hold a private lesson with more than three students at a time.
Mr. Palur offers a great program for kids between the ages of 7 and 18! It is an hour-long presentation teaching the basics of close-up magic. It includes the use of everyday objects, utility moves to develop dexterity and build a magic act, as well as showmanship and the fundamentals of magic performance. Each participant will learn two to four full tricks and witness many more slight of hand routines right under their noses.
There is no stage or fancy props needed, just one-on-one instructions on how to become a magician or a better performer. Mr. Palur has been teaching his magic and showmanship course in schools, theaters and libraries in the Northern Ohio are for over 25 years. He can work with recommended books, study programs, and/or customize the presentation to meet the needs of the participants.
This is "hands-on" training where each student uses the necessary props to produce miracles on their own. The class will build confidence and learn showmanship, as well as learn some of the history behind magic as a performance art
